Hi babes! Well, it’s here! We’ve finally made it to the weekend!
Last Tuesday, I had the pleasure of attending the Grand Reopening of the Kansas City Club as an event collective. I have to tell y’all. IT. IS. GORGEOUS!
Before diving into the history of the Kansas City Club and the details of the reopening, I want to extend a major THANK YOU to Sturges Word Communications for the invitation to attend (and the plus one so that Logan could attend his first blogger event – he absolutely loved it!)
What is the Kansas City Club?
The Kansas City Club is a history rich building, with as many stories as bricks in the gorgeous walls, in the Library District of Kansas City. Dating back to 1882, the Kansas City Club was the “it” spot for the elite of the elite in Kansas City (including a few presidents!), the clubhouse for the men who built our city. From talking shop to cigar clubs to poker games, the Kansas City Club was a second home to a select few whose names are known throughout the Kansas City area.
But, after 133 years and an aging membership, the club padlocked it’s doors. And in August 2015, it was announced that everything in the club would be up for auction. From poker tables to clocks to the building itself. Piece by piece the history of the elite was auctioned away.
Event Venue Collective
After two and a half years of work, developers have reintroduced the Kansas City Club to our city, this time as an event space collective. Featuring 10 spaces, including two bridal suites and a groom’s suite (complete with a virtual reality golf course), the $3 million dollar project combined modern touches with the gorgeous historical statements of history that occupy the building.
From the moment you walk under the awning announcing the elite building you are walking into, through the gorgeous double doors to marvel at the staircase in front of you, you know that you are in a special place. Up the stairs on the second floor, you are greeted by four different event spaces leading from the lobby, each with it’s own unique look and feel. The bar room combines a piece of history on each wall with modern, industrial touches. Off of that, the perfect area for a wedding ceremony overlooks Baltimore. With gorgeous chandeliers hanging combined with natural light, the photos are sure to be beautiful. Off the main second floor lobby, you have the perfect space for a corporate event or meeting, complete with classic chandeliers and a full wall fireplace. Across from that, a reception area with the original stained-glass windows is available to host your guests for a meal by the in-house caterer. (Y’all, even the bathrooms were breathtaking.)
Upstairs, on the third and fourth floor are rooms currently under construction as bridal and grooms suites. The rooms are DEFINITELY spacious enough for the needs, and the grooms suite is set to feature a virtual reality golf course.
Beyond the space and in-house catering, the Kansas City Club offers a variety of additional amenities to help set your event apart, ensuring that it is as elite as the men who founded the club.
Overall, the Kansas City Club Venue Collective is just as amazing as the grand reopening was! This is definitely a space I would recommend checking out for your upcoming wedding or event!
